NSD or NFD - Green Shad Chrome

COLOR NAME: Green Shad Chrome
COLOR CODES: NSD or NFD
LURE(S) PICTURED: Tiny Torpedo (360NSD), Super Sonic (9385NSD)
DESCRIPTION:

Chrome or silver body with green scales, solid green spine, red gill mark and black spot on either side of head.

This color first appeared in Heddon' 1971 catalog along with chrome colors. The colors included NPY (Yellow Chrome), NPR (Red Chrome), VGS (Gold/Black Chrome), NBL (Black Chrome) and VRB (Rainbow Chrome). In addition, Heddon assigned a different series number to every lure produced in the Chrome color, i.e., '9520' was the standard series number for the Chugger Jr but in a Chrome color, it was 9522. That series number continued to 1974 and then Heddon reverted back to the standard series number for the lure(s).

In 1972, the color code was changed to NSD, listed for all the same lures as the 1971 catalog and the very same picture of a Torpedo Spook was used. The NSD code continued to be used through 1974. On that basis, it would appear that the NFD code was a typographical error in the 1971 catalog. Since, however, it did appear in the 1971 catalog, it is listed here.
