| LURE(S) PICTURED: | River Runt Spook Floater (9402)(c. 1940's), Chugger Jr. (9520RH)(c. 1960's), Super Sonic (9385RH)(c. 1950's) | DESCRIPTION: | The plastic lures such as the River Runt Spook have a solid white body with a red head and a silver scale pattern on the belly. Some later versions have a white scale pattern on the belly as well. The 'red' color of the head varies from a 'tomato' red to a deep red. On some, the red 'blends' into the white rather than having a definitive line as shown on the Chugger Jr. This color comes in gold eye and white eye versions with the gold eye being the earlier of the two. Introduced for River Runt Spooks in 1933. Color code changed in 1946 from '2' to 'RH'. In 1983, this color became known as just "Red Head". The Super Sonic has white spots in a random 'coachdog' pattern on the sides over a silver scale pattern on the sides, white belly, and red head. This is a cataloged color called Red and White for the Super Sonic, c. 1957. (Picture of Chugger Jr. courtesy of Charles Woolley!) |
